BrainwoRx promotes each child’s brain development and learning potential through fun, yet challenging, exercises that incorporate sensorimotor, vision, hearing and speech-language skills in a play-like atmosphere. Using a variety of multi-task activities, children are guided through tasks that help automate moving, seeing, hearing, and speaking. It is only when these skills are truly automatic that higher order learning, thinking and reasoning skills are free to develop.
The BrainWoRx program was established in 2006 to address the needs of learning impaired children in our community. Using our program, children can achieve 2 to 3 year gains in as little as 6 weeks. We created our program based on the understanding that children with learning difficulties often experience a disconnect in one or all of the following brain connections: those that tie lower brain structures to upper brain structures, those that connect the right and left halves of the brain together, and those that connect information centers within the same hemisphere of the brain.
In addition, the type of learning deficit a child experiences is directly related to the underdeveloped connections in the child’s brain. The program consists of 60 hours of intense intervention at 2 to 3 hours a day, 5 days a week for 4 to 6 weeks.
